TradieVolt

Got questions we have answers

Here are some of the most common things tradies ask before getting started.
If you need more detail, our team is always happy to help.

What is TradieVolt?

Is TradieVolt a replacement for what I’m already doing?

Mostly not. TradieVolt is designed to sit alongside the tools you already use to run your business, your job management platform, your accounting software, your CRM. What TradieVolt replaces is the piecemeal approach most electrical contractors take to their documents: the DIY templates, the designer you engaged three years ago whose files you can’t update, the inconsistent branding across different documents, and the operational materials you’ve been meaning to get around to. TradieVolt consolidates all of that into a single, professionally maintained document suite.

Is TradieVolt a software tool, a service, or something else?

It’s both. The document build, the ongoing updates, and new document creation are handled by our professional design team. That’s the service side. The MyVolt portal is where you access your documents, submit change requests, and manage your subscription. That’s the platform side. The combination is deliberate. A software-only approach would push all the design work onto you. A service-only approach wouldn’t scale or give you a consistent experience. TradieVolt brings them together so you get the quality of bespoke design work with the reliability of an ongoing platform.

Is TradieVolt a startup? Are you going to be around in five years?

TradieVolt is a deliberately built business, not a venture-backed sprint. We’re not chasing volume or trying to scale at any cost. Our model is premium, sustainable, and designed around retention rather than growth at all costs. The subscription model gives us a predictable revenue base, our customer economics are transparent and healthy, and we’re committed to electrical contractors as our core market for the long term. We’re here to build something durable, and the way we’ve structured the business reflects that.

Is TradieVolt only for electrical contractors?

Yes, for now. The platform is built specifically around the realities of running a licensed electrical business in Australia and New Zealand. The document suite, the content, the compliance references, and the operational frameworks all reflect the specific context of the electrical trade. We plan to expand into other trades over time, but not until we’re confident we’ve built something genuinely excellent for electrical contractors first. One trade done properly is more valuable than five trades done generically.

Where is TradieVolt based, and does that matter?

TradieVolt is Australian built and Australian run. Our documents are written for Australian and New Zealand electrical contractors, referencing the regulatory, compliance, and operational context that applies in this market. If you’re operating outside AU and NZ, we’re not currently the right fit. For electrical contractors in AU and NZ, this means your documents use the right terminology, reference the right standards, and reflect the realities of running an electrical business in this part of the world.

Who built TradieVolt?

TradieVolt was built by Brenton Russo and Joe Ciardi. Brenton is a licensed electrical contractor, and the idea for TradieVolt came directly out of running his own electrical business, where the gap between the standard of the work and the standard of the paperwork supporting it became impossible to ignore. Joe came on as Brenton’s partner to help turn the idea into a real business, bringing over twenty years working with commercial customers across the technology industry in operational, sales and service capacities. The pairing is deliberate: someone whose experience sits inside the trade, and someone whose experience sits outside it. The fuller story is on our About Us page.

Why was TradieVolt built?

Because most electrical businesses are serious, capable operators who present themselves with amateur documentation. Customers, builders, and insurers all form judgements about a business based on the paperwork it produces. A professional electrical contractor losing work to a competitor because of a poorly designed quote or capability statement happens far more often than it should. TradieVolt was built to close that gap. We give capable electrical businesses the professional document suite their work deserves, without the time and cost of building it themselves.

Why TradieVolt vs Job Management Tools?

Do I need to change anything about how I currently run my business to use TradieVolt?

No. TradieVolt slots in around your existing tools and workflows. You keep using your job management platform, your accounting software, your CRM, and anything else you rely on. TradieVolt simply gives you a professional document suite to use alongside them, and a team to maintain it. The goal is to make your business look and operate at a higher standard without disrupting the systems that already work.

Does TradieVolt help me win work the way ServiceM8 helps me manage work?

Yes, but in a different way. Job management platforms help you deliver work efficiently once you’ve won it. TradieVolt helps you look like the kind of business that deserves to win it in the first place. When a property manager is deciding between three electricians, a well-presented capability statement backed by a professional document suite tips the decision. When a builder is comparing contractors for an ongoing site, consistent branding and documented workmanship standards signal that you’re a business they can rely on. That’s what TradieVolt is built to do.

Does TradieVolt replace the documents my job management platform produces?

That’s entirely your call. Some customers use their TradieVolt documents as their primary operational documents and use their job management platform for scheduling and back-end admin only. Others keep using their platform for routine, fast-turnaround documents and reach for their TradieVolt versions when presentation matters most, like tenders, new client pitches, or commercial work. TradieVolt is designed to work either way. The Resources section of MyVolt includes platform-specific guides to help you decide what suits your workflow.

How is TradieVolt different from ServiceM8, Simpro, or Tradify?

They do different jobs. ServiceM8, Simpro, Tradify, and similar platforms are job management tools. They handle scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and field operations. They’re designed to run the day-to-day mechanics of your jobs. TradieVolt is a premium document and branding platform. It gives your business the operational documents, policies, and customer-facing materials that make you look and operate like a professional, established electrical contractor. One runs your jobs. The other runs your business presence. Most successful electrical businesses need both.

I already use a job management platform. Do I still need TradieVolt?

Yes. Your job management platform does an excellent job of what it was built for, but it wasn’t built to produce your capability statement, your workmanship standards, your employee onboarding pack, your apprentice performance reviews, your customer service standards, or your switchboard health check report. Those documents exist outside the job management workflow, and they’re the ones that shape how customers, staff, builders, and insurers perceive your business. TradieVolt sits above your job management tool, not in competition with it.

I’m a sole trader. I don’t have a job management platform yet. Should I get one, or is TradieVolt enough?

They solve different problems, so the honest answer is you’ll likely want both eventually. If you’re just starting out and trying to win work, professional documents are often the first priority because they directly affect whether a customer trusts you enough to hire you. Once you’re busy enough that managing jobs and invoicing is taking too much time, a job management platform becomes the next logical investment. TradieVolt is designed to scale with you either way.

I’ve been running my electrical business successfully for years without TradieVolt. What will this actually change for me?

For established businesses, TradieVolt typically does three things. First, it lifts the consistency and professionalism of your customer-facing materials, which matters most when you’re competing for better-paying work or larger clients. Second, it removes the ongoing drag of maintaining documents yourself or paying designers piecemeal every time something needs updating. Third, it gives you documents you didn’t realise you were missing, the ones that close deals or reassure a hesitant customer. If your business is already running well, TradieVolt isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about raising the ceiling on what’s possible.

My job management platform has invoice and quote templates built in. Isn’t that the same thing?

Not really. Job management platforms generate invoices and quotes as a by-product of their scheduling and billing workflow, and the templates are typically generic, limited in design flexibility, and not built to reflect the premium positioning of your business. A TradieVolt invoice or quotation is professionally designed, on-brand, and built to sit consistently alongside the rest of your document suite. Depending on which job management platform you use, there may be ways to use your TradieVolt documents directly within the platform, whether as attachments, template uploads, or appended supporting material. How the two work together is your call, and the Resources section of MyVolt includes platform-specific guides to help you decide what suits your workflow.

Why wouldn’t I just use the free document templates inside my job management platform?

You can, and for some use cases that’s perfectly reasonable. Two things to consider though. First, job management platforms only cover a narrow slice of the documents an electrical business actually needs. Capability statements, workmanship standards, employee handbooks, apprentice performance reviews, switchboard health checks, and similar documents aren’t part of any job management platform’s template set. Second, even for documents the platform does provide like invoices and quotes, the built-in templates are generic by design. TradieVolt gives you a professionally designed, on-brand alternative you can use either as a complete replacement or as your go-to for higher-stakes work.

Will TradieVolt integrate with ServiceM8, Simpro, or Tradify?

TradieVolt isn’t a software integration. We don’t connect to your job management platform via APIs or data syncs. What we do is supply your documents in formats that work alongside the major platforms, so you can use TradieVolt documents within your existing workflow. The Resources section of MyVolt includes guides specific to each of the major job management platforms, explaining how to use TradieVolt documents in that environment. If you have a specific need that isn’t covered by the standard delivery format, submit a request and we’ll support where possible.

Why TradieVolt vs Template Sellers?

Are TradieVolt documents actually written for electrical contractors, or are they generic business documents with our logo on them?

They’re built for licensed electrical contractors specifically. The content references the realities of running an electrical business in Australia and New Zealand, including REC numbers, licensed contractor obligations, switchboard documentation, apprentice management, and compliance requirements. This isn’t a generic SMB template with your brand colours applied. It’s a document suite developed with the specific professional, regulatory, and operational context of the electrical trade in mind.

Can’t I just use Canva myself?

You can. Canva Business starts at A$84 per month for a minimum of three users, and that’s before you’ve spent a single hour learning the platform, building your templates, applying your brand, writing your content, or maintaining everything when your details change. TradieVolt’s subscription costs less than that entry-level Canva plan, and includes professional designers who do all of that for you. For most electrical contractors, their time is worth far more per hour than the cost of having it handled properly.

How is TradieVolt different from a freelance designer who builds me a set of documents?

A freelancer builds what you ask for, once, and then they’re gone. If you need a revision six months later, you’re back to negotiating a rate, briefing them again, and waiting. TradieVolt is an ongoing relationship. Your documents can be updated, expanded, and improved on request, and you’re working with a team that already knows your business. The suite also grows. TradieVolt is continually building new documents for the platform. As they’re released, active subscribers get first access, claiming each one for their business using the credits included with their membership — customised to their branding like everything else in their suite. Over time, releases are folded into the Complete Package itself, and the package price rises for new customers. Subscribers who claimed those documents along the way are already ahead.

I already have a Canva account. Can’t I just adapt your designs myself?

TradieVolt documents are built and maintained by our team. They’re not distributed as editable templates for customers to modify independently. This is a deliberate decision. When you edit a professional document without design experience, the quality degrades, and the document is now representing your business. If you need a change, you request it from us and we do it properly. That’s what the subscription covers.

I’m already using ServiceM8 / Simpro / Tradify. Do I still need TradieVolt?

Yes, and they’re not the same thing. Job management platforms handle scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and field operations. TradieVolt handles how your business presents itself: your capability statements, your policies, your compliance documents, your onboarding packs, your customer-facing materials. Your job management tool helps you run the job. TradieVolt helps you win it, and look like the kind of operation that deserves to.

I’ve seen template packs online for a fraction of the price. What’s the difference?

Template packs give you a starting point. You still have to customise every document yourself, learn the software, maintain the files when things change, and hope the design holds up under professional scrutiny. TradieVolt gives you finished documents, built specifically for licensed electrical contractors in Australia and New Zealand, with your branding already applied. You don’t touch a design tool. You don’t spend weekends on a letterhead. You get documents that look like they came from a business that takes itself seriously, because they did.

There’s a second difference worth knowing about. With a template pack, every other electrical business that buys the same pack ends up with documents that look like yours. With TradieVolt, your document suite is built to be visibly distinct from every other customer’s. We adjust or replace the underlying templates wherever similar branding would otherwise produce similar results. Your documents represent your business specifically, not your business overlaid on the same design hundreds of others are also using.

What happens when my business details change, new phone number, new staff, updated insurance?

With a template you bought once, that’s your problem to fix. With TradieVolt, you submit the change and we handle it, typically within two business days for straightforward updates. Your documents stay current without you having to open a design file. For electrical contractors whose licence details, insurance certificates, and contact information change regularly, that alone covers the cost of the subscription.

What if I need a document that isn’t in the standard TradieVolt suite?

That’s covered by your subscription. Subscribers can commission entirely new documents, built from scratch to their brief. You give us the brief, and we design and iterate with you until it’s right. Commissions are paid for with the credits included in your membership — one credit per page — so a document you commission is covered by the credits you’ve built up simply by being subscribed.

What’s wrong with buying a template and customising it myself?

Nothing, if you have the time, the design eye, and the patience for it. Most electrical business owners don’t. Beyond the time cost, there’s a quality ceiling with DIY customisation: fonts get substituted, spacing goes off, layouts break on different screen sizes, and content that looked fine in the template doesn’t translate to your actual business. Customers, builders, and insurers notice the difference between a document that was designed and one that was assembled. TradieVolt documents are built to hold up under that scrutiny.

Why would I pay a monthly subscription when I only need the documents once?

Because your business isn’t static. Staff change. Licences are renewed. You add new services. You win a contract that requires an updated capability statement. You want a new client-facing form you hadn’t thought of when you first signed up. A one-time template purchase gets you documents that reflect your business on one day. TradieVolt keeps them current and keeps building your suite as your business evolves. The subscription is what separates a document package from a living operational system.

Onboarding & Setup

Can I request changes to my documents during the 90-day revision window?

Yes. Every TradieVolt package includes 90 days of unlimited revisions from the date your documents are delivered, regardless of whether you’re subscribed. Submit your changes through the MyVolt portal and our team handles them.

Do I need to know how to use Canva or any design software?

No. You never need to open a design tool. Your documents are built, customised, and maintained entirely by the TradieVolt team. When you need something changed or want a new document created, you submit a request and we handle it. The only platform you’ll interact with is the MyVolt portal, which is where your documents are accessed and requests are submitted.

How does the onboarding process work?

After purchasing your TradieVolt package, you’ll complete a short onboarding form that captures your business details: trading name, contact information, licence numbers, branding assets, and a few other specifics we need to build your documents accurately. Once submitted, our team gets to work customising your full document suite. You’ll receive your completed documents through the MyVolt portal, ready to use. The whole process is designed to require minimal time and effort from you. We do the heavy lifting.

How long does it take to receive my documents after I submit the onboarding form?

Your complete document suite is typically delivered within five business days of receiving your completed onboarding form. Our team customises all documents with your business information and branding before delivery. Nothing is handed to you half-finished and left for you to complete. You’ll be notified through the MyVolt portal when everything is ready.

I run my electrical business under multiple entities or trading names. Can TradieVolt accommodate that?

Each TradieVolt package is set up for one business entity. If you operate under multiple entities that require separate document suites, each would require its own package. Get in touch before purchasing and we can talk through the best approach for your situation.

Is there a phone call or meeting as part of the onboarding process?

Yes. After you complete your onboarding form, you’ll schedule a call with the TradieVolt team. The call is typically around thirty minutes and is included as part of every package. It’s a chance for us to walk you through the process, confirm we have what we need to build your documents properly, and answer any questions you have about the service, the MyVolt portal, or how we’ll work together going forward. It also gives us a direct line to you while we’re building out your suite, so anything that needs clarifying can be resolved before we’re deep into the work. This is a deliberate part of how we onboard customers at this stage of the business, reflecting the premium service we’re building and the relationship we want with every TradieVolt customer.

What format will I receive my documents in?

Your documents are delivered as PDFs through the MyVolt portal. Reference documents such as capability statements, policies, and guides are ready to use as delivered. Operational documents that you complete per job or per customer, such as invoices, quotes, and warranty forms, are delivered as PDFs you can fill in using any modern PDF reader, including the free Adobe Acrobat Reader or Preview on Mac. If you have a specific need for an alternative file format, such as Microsoft Word for upload into a job management platform, submit a request and we’ll support where possible. The Resources section of MyVolt includes a guide on how to fill out a PDF using free tools, so your team doesn’t need to learn anything new.

What happens if I make a mistake on the onboarding form?

It’s not a problem. Any corrections can be submitted as a change request once your documents are delivered, and we aim to action them within two business days. If you notice an error before your documents have been delivered, contact us directly and we can make the correction before the build is completed.

What if my logo or branding isn’t finalised yet when I want to sign up?

You can begin the onboarding process and note that your branding is pending. We’ll build your documents with placeholder branding and update them once your final assets are ready. This counts as a change request and is covered under your 90-day revision window. We’d rather get started and update than have you delay getting your documents in hand.

What information do I need to provide to get started?

The onboarding form will guide you through everything we need, but broadly you’ll want to have the following ready: your business name and trading name, ABN, contact details, licence number and jurisdiction, insurance details, logo files, and your brand colours if you have them. The form takes most prepared business owners around eight minutes to complete. If you’re unsure about anything, you can save and return to it. You don’t have to do it in one sitting.

Customisation & Updates

Can I make my own edits to TradieVolt documents?

For most documents, no. TradieVolt documents are built and maintained by our team specifically to keep the design quality and brand consistency intact. Customer-editable fields exist in operational documents like invoices and quotes so you can fill them in per job, but the structural design of every document remains in our hands. This is deliberate. A premium document suite loses its value the moment it’s edited by someone without design experience. If you need something changed, we change it.

Can I request changes to my documents after they’ve been delivered?

Yes. Change requests are included in your subscription and can be submitted at any time through the MyVolt portal. Minor amendments such as contact detail updates, staff changes, or content tweaks are typically turned around within two business days. More involved design changes are typically turned around within five business days. There’s no cap on how many change requests you can submit in a month.

Can I request entirely new documents that aren’t part of my package?

Yes. Subscribers can commission entirely new documents built to their brief, using the credits included with the subscription — one credit per page of the finished document. You give us the brief, and we design and iterate with you until it’s right. Typical turnaround is around ten business days from agreed scope, depending on complexity. Your subscription needs to be active when we deliver the document, not just when you submit the request.

Can my branding be updated if it changes?

Yes. If your logo, brand colours, or overall visual identity change, we update your entire document suite to reflect the new branding. A comprehensive rebrand is a significant piece of work and is treated as a design change rather than a minor amendment, with turnaround typically within five business days per document. For substantial rebrands across your entire suite, we’ll scope the work with you so you know what to expect.

How customised are TradieVolt documents to my business?

Every document in your package is built around your business. Your name, branding, licence details, insurance information, contact details, and operational specifics are baked into the documents before they’re delivered, not pasted on top of a generic template. This is the difference between a document that looks like it was made for you and one that was adapted for you. The level of customisation is one of the core reasons TradieVolt costs what it does, and one of the core reasons the end result holds up under professional scrutiny.

Customisation also extends to the visual design itself. Your document suite is built to be visibly distinct from every other TradieVolt customer’s. Where two customers have similar logos or brand colours, we adjust or replace the underlying templates so the end result still looks unique to each business. The outcome you pay for is your suite, not a shared one.

How do I submit a change request or new document brief?

Through the MyVolt portal. Every subscriber has access to a structured request form that captures what you need, what document it relates to, and any supporting information we might need to get it right first time. For new document commissions, the form prompts you to describe what the document is for, who uses it, and what needs to go on it. You don’t need to know how to brief a designer. The form is built to ask the right questions so you don’t have to guess at what we need.

How do you make sure my documents stay consistent across the whole suite?

Because your documents are maintained by a specialist team that holds the full picture of your suite, not by you jumping between files. When you update your phone number, it gets updated everywhere it appears. When your branding evolves, the whole suite moves with it. When you add a new document, whether a claimed TradieVolt release or a commissioned build, it’s built to sit alongside the ones you already have. This is one of the core reasons TradieVolt exists. Document consistency is nearly impossible to maintain yourself across a full operational document suite, but it’s how your business signals professionalism.

What counts as a “minor amendment” versus a “design change”?

This distinction doesn’t affect how you submit a request, and you don’t need to categorise it yourself. It only exists to help set expectations around turnaround. For reference, a minor amendment is a small, clearly-defined update to an existing document, such as updating a phone number, changing a staff name, refreshing a licence expiry date, or tweaking a short piece of content. A design change involves modifying the layout, structure, or visual elements of a document, such as restructuring a page, adding a new section, reformatting a table, or making substantial content revisions. Whatever you submit, we action it. The categories are ours to manage, not yours.

What happens when my business details change?

You submit a change request through the MyVolt portal. Straightforward updates like a new phone number, updated insurance certificate, renewed licence, or staff change are typically actioned within two business days. Any document that references the changed information gets updated, not just the first one you mention. Part of what the subscription covers is consistency across your document suite, so you don’t have to hunt through every file to make sure a detail has been updated everywhere it needs to be.

What if the change I need is urgent?

We aim to turn around minor amendments within two business days and design changes within five, and these times are designed to cover the vast majority of what our customers need. If something is genuinely urgent, flag it clearly in your request and we’ll do what we reasonably can to accommodate. We don’t operate an expedited tier or charge for rush work. Our view is that our standard turnaround should be fast enough for almost all real-world situations, and for the rare situations that need more, we’ll work with you.

Delivery & Access

Can I access my documents from my phone?

Yes. MyVolt is accessible from any device with a browser, including phones and tablets. Documents can be viewed, downloaded, and filled in from a mobile device, which means a tradesperson on site can pull down what they need without going back to the office. Most modern phones can also fill in PDFs directly through the built-in PDF viewer or a free app like Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Can I bulk download my entire document suite?

Yes. If you want a local copy of your full suite, you can download all your documents from MyVolt. This can be useful for backing up, transferring to a new device, or sharing with a business partner. The documents you download are yours to keep, regardless of subscription status.

Can I download my documents to keep a local copy?

Yes. Every document in your MyVolt portal can be downloaded to your device, saved to your own file system, or uploaded into whatever storage system your business uses. The master version always lives in MyVolt and is kept current as your details change, but you’re free to save local copies wherever suits your workflow.

Can I share documents directly with my customers from the portal?

You can download a document and send it to your customer however you’d normally communicate with them, whether that’s email, messaging app, or printed copy. MyVolt is primarily designed for you to manage your document suite, not as a customer-facing sharing tool. This keeps the access boundaries clean: your documents are yours, and how they reach your customers is your call.

How do I fill in a PDF without buying software?

Every modern device can fill in a PDF using free tools. On a Windows or Mac computer, the free Adobe Acrobat Reader includes a feature called Fill & Sign that lets you type directly onto any PDF, add checkboxes, and insert signatures. Mac users can also use the built-in Preview app. On mobile, free apps like Adobe Acrobat Reader, Foxit PDF, or your device’s built-in PDF viewer can do the same. The Resources section of MyVolt includes a step-by-step guide with screenshots, so your team can get started without any learning curve.

How do I use TradieVolt documents alongside my job management platform?

That depends on which platform you use. The Resources section of MyVolt includes platform-specific guides for the major job management tools in the Australian and New Zealand market, explaining how to use TradieVolt documents effectively in each environment. For platforms that allow custom template uploads, you can request a version of your TradieVolt document in an appropriate file format. For platforms that don’t, your TradieVolt documents can be used as attachments to your quotes and jobs, or as your primary documents sent directly to customers.

What file format are my documents delivered in?

PDF. Reference documents like capability statements and policies are delivered as finished PDFs ready to use. Operational documents like invoices, quotes, and warranty forms are delivered as PDFs you can complete in any PDF reader using free tools like Adobe Acrobat Reader’s Fill & Sign, or Preview on Mac. If you need a document in a different file format for a specific purpose, like uploading a template into your job management platform, submit a request and we’ll support where possible.

What happens if my MyVolt access is interrupted?

Your delivered documents are downloadable and can be kept locally if you want a backup copy for offline situations. If the portal itself is temporarily unavailable, your existing documents aren’t affected. For any broader access issues, get in touch and we’ll work through it with you directly.

What if I need a specific file format for a purpose you haven’t covered?

Let us know through your MyVolt change request form. We can generally supply documents in formats like Microsoft Word (.docx), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and various image formats, alongside the standard PDF delivery. Unusual formats can be discussed on a per-request basis. The standard PDF delivery covers the vast majority of what customers need, and we’ll support alternative formats where possible.

Where are my TradieVolt documents delivered?

Through the MyVolt portal. When your document suite is ready, you’ll be notified and can access everything from MyVolt on any device with a browser. Documents are organised and searchable, and new documents added to your suite over time appear in the same place. There’s no separate email delivery, no file-sharing service, and no reliance on cloud drives. Your suite lives in one place and is always up to date.

Pricing & What You Get

Are there any additional costs I should know about?

No. Your document package and the monthly subscription are the only costs. Change requests, regardless of how many you submit, are included in your subscription. New documents — whether you’re claiming a TradieVolt release or commissioning something built to your brief — are covered by the credits included with your membership. There’s no charge per request, no premium tier for faster turnaround, and no additional fee for iteration on documents we’re building for you.

Can I start with just the subscription and skip the package?

No. Your document package is the foundation, the way your business gets set up on the TradieVolt platform with a complete, custom document suite. The subscription is designed to maintain and extend that foundation, not replace it. Without a document package, there’s nothing to maintain. Every TradieVolt customer starts with a package.

Do unused credits roll over if I don’t use them that month?

Yes. Credits bank up for as long as you stay subscribed. A credit is added to your account every month, and there’s no pressure to spend it — many subscribers let their balance build and put it towards something substantial, like a multi-page commission or a run of new releases. The longer you’re subscribed, the more your credits can do. Note that your subscription needs to be active when we deliver a claimed or commissioned document, not just when you request it.

How much does TradieVolt cost?

TradieVolt has two components. Your document package is a one-time investment. Pricing and package options are detailed in the Packages section of our website. The ongoing subscription is $75 per month, which keeps your documents current with unlimited change requests, adds a credit to your account every month to put towards new documents — first access to new TradieVolt releases, or entirely new documents commissioned to your brief — and includes partner offers and information through the MyVolt portal. Subscribe at checkout and your first 90 days are free, with 2 bonus credits included. There are no lock-in contracts and no hidden fees.

Is there a lock-in contract?

No. The subscription runs month to month and you can cancel at any time. The best time to subscribe is at checkout, when you purchase your package. Subscribing at checkout includes 90 days free — full membership from day one, with your first payment 90 days away, and nothing to pay if you cancel before then — plus 2 bonus credits. Both are only available at checkout. You can still subscribe later through your MyVolt portal, but billing starts the day you subscribe and the checkout extras don’t apply. Either way, every TradieVolt package includes 90 days of unlimited revisions from the date of delivery, whether or not you subscribe.

Is TradieVolt worth it compared to just buying a template pack?

A template pack typically costs less upfront, but it transfers all the work to you. You customise it, maintain it, update it when things change, and live with the quality ceiling of a DIY result. TradieVolt’s subscription alone costs less per month than the entry point for Canva Business, and that’s before you account for the hours spent learning design software, building documents, and keeping everything current. When you factor in your time, TradieVolt isn’t just more professional; it’s more cost-effective.

What does the Complete Package actually include?

The Complete Package is your full document foundation, built specifically for licensed electrical contractors and customised with your business name, branding, licence details, and contact information before delivery. The package is grouped by outcome rather than by document type, and covers three areas: Business Essentials (the systems and operational reference material that hold the business together), Customer Value Add (customer-facing material that lifts trust and closes deals), and Employee Essentials (onboarding, performance, and the consistency that keeps good staff in the business). It’s delivered ready to use. You don’t piece it together. You receive a finished, professional document suite.

What does the monthly subscription cover?

Your subscription does four things. It keeps your existing document suite current with unlimited change requests, covered in full, however often your details change. It adds a credit to your account every month, and your credits bank up for as long as you stay subscribed. It gives you first access to new TradieVolt documents as they’re released — you claim them for your business using your credits, at half a credit per page — and lets you commission entirely new documents built to your brief at one credit per page. And it unlocks access to partner offers and information through the MyVolt portal.

What happens to my documents if I cancel the subscription?

Your documents remain yours. Cancelling the subscription means you lose access to ongoing change requests, the ability to claim new TradieVolt releases or commission new documents, and partner offers through the MyVolt portal. Any credits you’ve built up are held for six months from cancellation — resubscribe within that window and they’re restored in full. If you’re still within the 90-day revision window included with your package purchase, those revisions remain available until that period ends. After that, the documents you have stay with you, but the team behind them doesn’t.

Why is there an upfront package cost at all? Why not just a subscription?

Because the foundation has to be built before it can be maintained. Your document package is the work of creating your custom document suite from scratch, a significant investment of specialist time that can’t be absorbed into the monthly subscription fee. The subscription model works because the heavy lifting has already been done. What you’re paying monthly for is the ongoing care, responsiveness, and evolution of a suite that’s already been professionally built for your business.

Ownership & Subscription Mechanics

Can I keep using TradieVolt documents after cancelling my subscription?

Yes. Your documents are yours to use for your business regardless of your subscription status. What you lose when you cancel is the team maintaining them. Over time, your details will change, your branding may evolve, and your document suite may no longer reflect your business.

Can I pause my subscription instead of cancelling?

The subscription runs month to month and can be cancelled at any time with no exit fee or lock-in. If you need to step away temporarily, the simplest approach is to cancel and resubscribe when you’re ready. Your credits are held for six months from cancellation and restored in full if you resubscribe within that window, so a short break doesn’t cost you the balance you’ve built. Documents TradieVolt releases while you’re away remain in the library, and you can claim them with your credits once you’re subscribed again.

Does my package investment expire?

No. Your Complete Package is yours to keep and use indefinitely. As we release new documents to the TradieVolt platform, the Complete Package grows and the price for new customers rises to reflect that. If you want to pick up each new document as we release it, that’s what the subscription provides — you claim releases for your business using the credits included with your membership. If you prefer to wait, you can always purchase the expanded Complete Package later at the prevailing price.

How do credits work?

Credits are how subscribers add new documents to their suite. One credit is added to your account every month your subscription is active, and credits bank up for as long as you stay subscribed. You can spend them two ways. Claiming a document from the TradieVolt library — a document we’ve already released, customised for your business — costs half a credit per page. Commissioning an entirely new document, designed from scratch to your brief, costs one credit per page. So four banked credits could claim an eight-page library document, or commission a four-page document that’s never existed before. There’s no pressure to spend credits as they arrive; the balance is yours to build and use when the need is real.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the MyVolt portal. There’s no phone call required, no cancellation form to argue through, and no retention script. We believe the service stands on its own merits. If you’re cancelling for a reason we should know about, we’d genuinely appreciate hearing it so we can improve, but that’s a request, not a requirement.

If I subscribe later after buying a package, do I get the subscription benefits retroactively?

Subscription benefits begin from the date you subscribe, and billing starts the same day. The 90-days-free period and the 2 bonus credits are exclusive to subscribing at checkout, so they don’t apply to a later subscription. Partner offers are available only during an active subscription, and your credits start accruing from the month you join. The 90-day unlimited revision window that comes with your package purchase runs from the date your documents are delivered and is independent of your subscription status, so you don’t lose that regardless of when you subscribe.

Is there a minimum subscription term?

No. There’s no minimum term, no lock-in contract, and no cancellation fee. The subscription is month to month. We believe the service should earn your continued subscription every month, not trap you into one.

What does “first access to new TradieVolt documents” actually mean?

It means the TradieVolt document suite is built to grow over time, and subscribers get the new releases first.

Here’s how it works. The TradieVolt team is continually building new documents for the platform. We don’t commit to a fixed schedule, because we’d rather release a document when it’s right than ship one to hit a date. When a new document is released, active subscribers can claim it immediately: we customise it for your business, in your branding, like everything else in your suite. Claims are paid for with the credits included in your membership, at half a credit per page — so a four-page release costs two credits.

Later, once enough new documents have accumulated, they’re folded into the Complete Package itself and the package price rises for new customers. Subscribers who claimed those documents along the way already have them. In practical terms, the longer you’re subscribed, the more your suite is worth relative to what new customers are paying to get started — and because credits bank up month after month, the longer you stay, the more claiming power you hold.

This is one of the core reasons the subscription exists. It’s not just maintenance of what you already have. It’s continued investment in what your suite becomes.

What happens if I stop paying my subscription?

If a subscription payment fails, we’ll retry and notify you so you can update your payment details through the MyVolt portal. If the subscription lapses, your portal access and subscription benefits pause until payment is restored. Your already-delivered documents remain with you either way. We don’t hold your documents hostage over a failed payment.

What happens to my credits if I cancel?

They’re held for six months. Cancel your subscription and your credit balance is preserved for six months from the cancellation date — resubscribe within that window and every credit is restored. After six months, unused credits expire. One thing to be aware of: if you’ve spent credits on a claim or commission that hasn’t been delivered yet, your subscription needs to be active at delivery, so it’s best to let in-flight work finish before cancelling.

What happens to my documents if I cancel my subscription?

The documents you’ve received stay with you. Cancelling the subscription ends ongoing change requests, the ability to claim new TradieVolt releases or commission new documents, and partner benefits through the MyVolt portal. Any credits you’ve built up are held for six months from cancellation, and restored in full if you resubscribe within that window.

Who owns the TradieVolt documents once they’re delivered to me?

You own the right to use your TradieVolt documents for your electrical business. Everything we produce for you, customised to your branding, licence details, and business information, is yours to use across your operations indefinitely. The underlying design templates, frameworks, and intellectual property that sit behind the TradieVolt platform remain ours. In practical terms, this means you can use your documents however you need to run your business. You can’t resell them, redistribute them, or repackage them as your own product, but that’s not the sort of thing our customers are looking to do anyway.

Why is it better to subscribe at checkout rather than later?

Two things are included when you subscribe at checkout, at the same time as purchasing your package, and only then. First, your first 90 days are free: full membership from day one, with your first payment 90 days away — and nothing to pay if you cancel before then. Second, 2 bonus credits, enough to claim a four-page document from the TradieVolt library or to put towards a custom build. Subscribe later through your MyVolt portal and the subscription works exactly the same way, but billing starts the day you join and the checkout extras don’t apply. The subscription is optional either way — checkout is simply the one moment the two extras are on the table.

Will my subscription price change over time?

Subscription pricing is reviewed periodically and may change over time, similar to most common subscription services. If pricing changes, we’ll give existing subscribers reasonable notice in advance of the change taking effect. We commit to transparency. You’ll always know what you’re paying and why, and nothing will change without warning.

Support & Turnaround

Can I track the status of my requests?

Yes. The MyVolt portal shows the status of every request you’ve submitted and where it sits in our workflow. You won’t need to email us asking for updates. If we need additional information from you to complete a request, you’ll be prompted through the portal.

How do I get in touch if I need help?

The primary channel for support is the MyVolt portal, where you can submit change requests, new document briefs, and general questions directly to our team. This keeps everything in one place and attached to your account, so we can see your document suite and respond with full context. For matters that fall outside document work, you can also reach us by email. We don’t operate a phone support line because most of what our customers need is handled better in writing, where the details don’t get lost.

How do you handle mistakes on TradieVolt’s end?

We correct them, quickly and without fuss. If a mistake has gone out on one of your documents, that’s our problem to fix, not yours. We’ll prioritise the correction above the standard queue and communicate with you directly about what happened and how we’re preventing it from happening again. Mistakes are unavoidable in any service business. How they’re handled is what separates a premium service from an ordinary one.

Is there a limit to how many requests I can submit at once?

No. Change requests to existing documents are uncapped — submit as many as your business needs. New documents are different: claiming a TradieVolt release or commissioning a bespoke build draws on the credits included with your membership, so the pace is set by the credit balance you’ve built up. Your subscription needs to be active at delivery for any claimed or commissioned document.

What are your standard turnaround times?

We aim to turn around minor amendments to existing documents within two business days, and more involved design changes within five business days. Net new documents commissioned through your subscription are typically delivered within around ten business days, though this varies significantly depending on the complexity and length of the document. These are indicative turnaround times. We plan our operations around meeting them, but they’re not committed service-level guarantees.

What happens if my request isn’t actioned within the expected turnaround?

If a request is taking longer than the typical turnaround time, you’ll be notified through MyVolt with an updated estimate. You won’t need to chase us for progress or wonder where your request sits. If you feel the standard of service isn’t being met, tell us directly and we’ll make it right.

What hours is support available?

Our team is available during Australian eastern business hours, Monday to Friday. Requests submitted outside those hours are picked up the following business day. Turnaround times quoted across the service are measured in business days, so weekends and public holidays don’t count against the window.

What if I’m not happy with how a change or new document has been done?

Tell us. Every piece of work we do for you is iterative by nature, and revisions are part of the process, not an add-on. If something doesn’t land the way you wanted, flag it and we’ll rework it. For new document commissions in particular, iteration is built into the service, and we don’t cap how many rounds it takes to get something right.

What kind of support do I get during my 90-day revision window?

Every Complete Package includes 90 days of unlimited revisions from the date of delivery, whether or not you subscribe. During your 90-day revision window, unlimited changes to your existing documents are covered, with the same indicative turnaround times as the subscription. The main differences between the revision window and a full subscription are that the revision window doesn’t include credits — so no claiming new TradieVolt releases and no commissioning new documents — and no partner offers through MyVolt.

Who will I be dealing with when I submit a request?

You’ll be dealing with the TradieVolt team. Requests are routed through our internal workflow rather than tied to a single staff member, which means you’re not dependent on one person being available for your work to progress. Every request goes through the same quality process regardless of who actions it, so the output is consistent. Where a specific piece of work benefits from a direct conversation, we’ll loop you in with the right person.

Operational

Are TradieVolt documents legally binding?

A document’s legal standing depends on how it’s used, not who designed it. TradieVolt documents are professionally built and structured to support common legal and operational scenarios in the electrical trade, but they’re not a substitute for legal advice specific to your situation. If you have specific legal concerns about a document or how to use it, we recommend having it reviewed by a solicitor familiar with the trade and your jurisdiction.

Can I use TradieVolt documents for commercial tenders or large contracts?

Yes, and many are built with exactly that use case in mind. Your capability statement, workmanship standards, safety procedures, and compliance references are designed to be presented to property managers, builders, insurers, and commercial clients. Presentation quality matters in tendering environments, and the TradieVolt suite is built to support that. For specific tender requirements that need a bespoke document, that’s what a subscriber commission can cover — built to your brief, using the credits included with your membership.

Can my team access the documents too, or is it just me?

Your MyVolt portal account is held by the business owner or principal. Documents are downloaded from the portal and can be distributed to your team however suits your business. Additional user accounts aren’t part of the current service offering. If your business requires multiple people to have direct portal access, let us know and we can understand your needs, but we can’t commit to supporting that at present.

Do TradieVolt documents comply with Australian and New Zealand electrical industry standards?

TradieVolt documents are written with the Australian and New Zealand electrical industry context in mind, referencing the realities, terminology, and common frameworks that apply in this market. Compliance with specific standards, regulations, and licensing requirements ultimately depends on how you operate your business and fill in the documents. We’re not a substitute for legal, compliance, or professional advice specific to your operation. We provide a professional foundation; you and your advisors are the ones best placed to confirm it fits your specific compliance requirements.

How do I access my documents when I need them?

Through the MyVolt portal. Your full document suite is available there, organised and accessible from any device with a browser. You can download individual documents as needed, which means a tradesperson on site can pull down a job completion checklist or a quote template from a phone or tablet without needing to ring the office.

How do I get the most value out of my TradieVolt subscription?

Use it. The customers who get the most out of TradieVolt treat the subscription as an active resource rather than a set-and-forget cost. Every business detail that changes should prompt a change request. Every new TradieVolt release is worth a look — claiming releases as they land keeps your suite ahead of what new customers are buying. And your credits bank up every month, so an operational gap you identify a year in can become a commissioned document paid for entirely by the balance you’ve built. A subscription used passively costs the same as one used actively.

How do I use TradieVolt documents in the field?

You access your documents through MyVolt and use them within your existing workflows. Documents used on a job, like quotes, invoices, or warranty forms, are downloaded to your device and completed using any standard PDF reader. You can fill in the details on a phone, tablet, or desktop, and save or share the completed document however suits your business. Reference documents like capability statements and policy guides are used as delivered. For tips specific to the job management platform you use, see the platform guides in the Resources section of MyVolt.

How does TradieVolt fit into my day-to-day operations?

TradieVolt sits alongside the tools you already use rather than replacing them. Your documents live in the MyVolt portal, ready to access and use when you need them. For documents used per job or per customer, like invoices, quotes, or warranty forms, you fill in the variable details yourself. For reference documents like capability statements, policies, and guides, you use them as they are. When anything needs to change, you submit a request through MyVolt and we handle it. The goal is to reduce the operational friction of maintaining professional documents, not add another system to manage.

What if my business grows or changes significantly?

Your TradieVolt suite grows with you. As your business expands, you can commission new documents to cover new services, new roles, or new operational areas. As you rebrand, refresh, or restructure, your existing documents can be updated to reflect the change. As your business becomes more complex, the consistency of a professionally maintained document suite becomes more valuable, not less. TradieVolt is designed to be a long-term partner, not a one-time purchase.

What if my business has its own way of doing things that’s different from how TradieVolt structures documents?

That’s what the customisation and new document commissions are for. Every document can be tailored to reflect how your business actually operates, and subscribers can commission entirely new documents built to their brief, using the credits included with their membership. TradieVolt provides a strong starting foundation, but it’s designed to be shaped around your business, not the other way around.
